Lesley Wood

Principal

Lesley  is a Fellow and Examiner of the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing and as such she is one of the most experienced and respected teachers in the country. She is also an External Verifier with the Scottish Qualifications Authority and a faculty member of Dance For All ,Edinburgh. She is also a renowned choreographer.

Lesley's CV is too extensive to list here but she has choreographed  for the BBC, Scottish Television and Scottish Opera. In addition she choreographed 'Footloose', 'We Will Rock You', 'Rent', 'Our House', 'Witches of Eastwick', 'Songs for a New World, 'Jekyll and Hyde' and 'Children of Eden'.

Elaine Hughes

Associate

Elaine trained at the Glasgow Ballet School and later gained Licentiate status with  the ISTD. She has been a valued member of the Dance Factory Staff since the outset.
As a choreographer she has worked with Falkirk Youth Theatre  on the musicals 'Crazy For You', 'Fame' and 'Return To The Forbidden Planet'.

Lauren Borthwick
Associate

Lauren is a graduate of Glasgow Academy of Musical Theatre Arts and London Studio Centre. Lauren's credits include the Olympics closing ceremony (Alistair Marriott, with Cindy Jourdain and Jonathan Howells), The One Show (Arlene Phillips) and Romeo and Juliet (Adil Shaikh).

Jeff Allan
Olivia McLay
Associate

Olivia trained at the Elizabeth Henderson School of Dancing in Glasgow, assisting classes from the age of 16. A former member of the Scottish Ballet’s youth contemporary company ‘Steps Out’, Olivia now works as a freelance teacher and choreographer. She teaches Adult Tap classes and is the Vocational Tap Teacher at Central Scotland Ballet School and offers supply teaching for Waterfront Dance Studio in Edinburgh. She provides choreography for Stirling Gymnastics Club and has worked closely with undergraduate students studying Motion Sensing Technology at Glasgow Caledonian University. Olivia is currently working towards her DDE (Diploma in Dance Education), specialising in tap dance and teaches our 50+ Ballet and Tap classes. Olivia has CACDP Level 2 British Sign Language.

Lorna Cochrane

Jeff has been dancing Argentine tango since 1999. He has many years of experience teaching tango and in organising tango event in and around Glasgow.

 

Over the years Jeff has studied with many of the great Argentine teachers, and is a graduate of the tango teacher training programme organised by maestros Melina Sedó and Detlef Engel.

 

Jeff specialises in teaching the social form of Argentine tango which is an improvised couple dance of great depth. With this style of tango you can join a truly international community of dancers and dance at a Milonga (social tango dance) anywhere in the world.

Beginners and Improvers Flamenco are taught by Lorna Cochrane of Deseo.

 

A fabulous performer and dedicated teacher, Lorna takes you through basic technique and beautiful choreographies as well as an introduction to palmas (the specialised hand clapping everyone associates with flamenco) and castanettes.

Caitlin Hutchison

Hip-Hop/Commercial is taught by Caitlin Hutchison who found a love for dance at a very young age. She trained at Performing Arts Studio Scotland, part of Edinburgh College for 3 years, graduating with an Honours Degree in Dance and Choreography.  She has also had the experience of working at Studio 68 in London and has studied in New York at the Broadway Dance Centre and the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre. Caitlin had continued to judge, teach and focus on being apart of The Talent Collective Programme with Brian Friedman. Caitlin aims to audition and get more and more training while teaching and choreographing and passing her knowledge to the younger generation.
